India is a country of diversities, which can be seen in the way the people of India live, follow different traditions, languages, crafts and culture. This richness in culture is also visible in the myriad variety of traditional toys the children play across India. Toys play a major role in the life of children, be it of clay, wood or plastic. Many of these toys have scientific principles involved in them. While playing with such toys children knowingly or unknowingly learn science. With the change in the time children have started loosing interest in such toys and have started playing with video games and mobile phones.
Manthan realized the importance of such science toys and developed an exhibition for ‘Learning Science while Playing’. The exhibition had almost 40 – 50 science toys from across the country, which were used to explain complex scientific principles in a play way manner.
The exhibition was a low-cost experimental exhibition which was displayed in Portugal and India where which consisted of Panels, Toys and Films. The exhibition has a hands-on approach where, children come, play with the toys and learn science involved in them. Along with the exhibition several workshops are also conducted, where children learn to make their own simple toys.
