Biodiversity

Biodiversity is one of the major concerns of today’s era. Due to the increase in the industrialization and urbanization and the rapid growth the biodiversity around us is damaged. It was very important for the present generation to know the importance of Biodiversity and how it can sustain the natural cycle. Thus, to explain the importance of this self sustaining system, Manthan has worked on developing several hands-on activity kits. Many in-depth activities were developed to explain complex concepts related to biodiversity in a play way manner.  The target group were mainly pupils who received the kits at their doorsteps.

Several activities were developed to explain concepts of biodiversity like biodiversity mapping, food chain, biodiversity around you, consumable biodiversity, knowing trees in your area, leaf impression, animals and birds, insects from simple paper fold, life cycle, etc.

Such material on Biodiversity has been also developed by Manthan for a Radio programme with Science and Technology, Government of India which was a prime time broadcast on ‘All India Radio’. Under this programme, Kids across India could simultaneously, listen and play the science toys with instructions – how to-do-it, aired on the Radio.

Many feedback received give us a report that they learnt to build an overview of biodiversity around us while performing such activities given in the kits that were distributed to thousands of members across India.
