This is akit that looks at aspects of technology in everyday life of rural India. The kit wanted to introduce certain small interventions that would ensure life in rural India would become easier and healthier. To do so, we brainstormed with our in-house team and also external experts on which activities around health; sanitation and cleanliness should be included. Thus the kit evolved into covering all aspects of the household health – we developed activities on segregation and waste disposal and understanding biodegradability of them, on soakpit toilets and sewage disposal and on purification of water for use in the kitchen. The activities understood the reality of rural India and so cost-effective locally available materials were suggested for use. For example, in purification of water, a technique that used three earthenware pots, gravel and charcoal to purify water is suggested.
